“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.”
A long, long time ago I directed a short film that some friends and I raised the money for. We couldn’t afford a screening to show people our work (this was pre-youtube), but one of the guys had a friend who’d worked on another, longer short film by a director I’d never heard of who was planning a…
Look, sometimes I get these weird feelings and sometimes a thing Wes Anderson made resonates with me and when both of these things happen I feel like I really earned that BFA.

Chomping Nicorette through the stressful negotiations, Obama actually grew fond of the old-school Republican speaker puffing on cigarettes.

Someone get Obama on the phone for me and let me explain to him e-cigarettes and 1 mg canadian lozenges. Gum is so low tech.
It’s been a while since I threw some folk into the mix. This is a solid tune that always keeps my attention from beginning to end. I’m a sucker for great vocal harmonies.

Arcade Fire - Wake Up
By now, you’ve likely heard of Arcade Fire. They’ve gained wonderful recognition in the past seven or so years through three critically acclaimed albums. As I slowly recover from losing all of my music due to technical problems with my computer and the device I had it backed up on, I find myself listening to music that I had been neglecting because of so many new releases that had caught my attention. While Arcade Fire’s latest musical endeavor, The Suburbs, won a Juno Award and more notably a Grammy for Album of the Year, their older music is still quite rich and well worth a listen. Wake Up is off of their 2004 LP debut, Funeral, which I hadn’t listened to as of late late until I put it back in my music library. It’s the song that made me fall in love with the band years ago.
Enjoy!
P.S.
I’m sure I’ll catch some flak for tagging this as indie, as some make a convincing argument that the genre doesn’t quite fit now that they’ve won a Grammy. I don’t quite care. Cheers!
